Many of our competitors outsource their data center to a third party—we think this is a mistake.
We consider our data centers to be the jewels of our company and we believe any organization serious about enterprise-class hosting needs to have control over their own data centers. Because running our data centers is a central part of our business, we have strategically chosen not to outsource this critical component.
With the greater flexibility of our wholely-owned and higly-scalable data centers, it is our firm belief that we are better equipped to meet the current and future needs of our customers.
In 2001, Prominic.NET took over the space that once housed the control and communications center for Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois. Chanute closed during the early 1990's and the building sat idle for almost a decade, until we decided to re-tool it for our use. Affectionately nicknamed "The Fortress" due to its military grade construction, the Prominic.NET data center provides our customers with an enterprise-class facility and years of expansion capabilities.
In 2005, we added a second facility in Champaign, Illinois, approximately 15 miles south of the Chanute Air Force Base. This facility allows us to offer disaster recovery and high availability environments to our customers, in geographically separate data centers. These two facilities are connected via multiple dedicated private fiber lines that provide multi-gigabit per second network speed between the two data centers.
